Don O'KEEFFE (2000 - ):
Mogger-Don (yeh man!) signed for the start of the 2000-2001 season and his efforts and battling qualities soon saw him elevated to B Team captain. Don just keeps plugging away and formed a good partnership in the middle of defence with the Terminator (Jon Garside).
He narrowly missed out on both the Player of the Year and manager's Award in his first season. Needs to push the defence out quicker.
Don loves a drink and in his first year as a Wanderer, he has proved to be a good Club man.
Mike O'KEEFFE (2000 -2000 ):
Massive Mike looked awkward but was quite a good player. He was built like the proverbial brick etc.. and just held the middle of the park. Once he had the ball, nobody could get it off him. His passing was pretty good and by the time he left to move and work in Milton Keynes he had settled in the team and was missed.
Pat O'Byrne (1985 - 90):
"Raving" or "Biggles" as he was known was mainly a fill in player as most of the time he was on call as a Lift engineer. This likable Irishman held a full pilots licence and scared Keith Blackman shitless in one flight. He was quite a strong lad who held onto the ball too much - mainly because he didn't know what to do with it. For the same reason none of us knew what he was going to do next.
Once in a Gyer Cup match against Gleneagle, the A's only had 9 men. Raving had the game of his life and had many chances, 2 of which he took to give us a 2-0 half time lead. Just after HT, his bleeper went off (it was clipped to his shorts) and he had to go. Missing the chance to get a hatrick or more.... Well, down to 8 men we finally lost 2-4.
He used to tell some funny stories about his work which involved maintaing stairlifts. He slowly disappeared apart from attending training out of the blue now and again.
