Francis BABALOLA (2000 - )
"Franny Babs", christened "The Nigerian Wonder Boy" by his mates, is another product of the youth policy orchestrated by TD. He is one of six young lads signed on for the start
of the 2000-01 season. Shows great potential in the centre of midfield after a spell up front. Has also played effectively at centre back. He needs to get his mind fully on the task
as he tends to disappear a lot during games. He could be an excellent player - its up to him.
Andy BACON (1982-85)
"Andy Bean" as he was called was a very young man when he came to the Club. He had tremendous fitness but little skill. Thats not a crime and he more than made up for it with his constant running abd tackling.
His commitment for the Club resulted in him being award the Charlie Walters Memorial Shield. Never really knew what became of him as he disappeared without trace.
Neil BARRIE (1989-94)
" Segers" was probably the best goalkeeper the Club has ever had. He was a scary Scot with a big voice and
was as good as having a sweeper at the back. Another member of the Met' who had a brief appearance on TV when there was a
local report from Wood Green nick. However, his promising TV career never blossomed. Neil was a member of the Championship side
that went on to win the cup in '93. His enormous kicking was never really used to its full advantage, but while he was in goal the Club
enjoyed its most successful years.
Kevin BARNETT (1983-85)
Very fit midfield player with bags of energy and flowing blonde locks. He was famous for his rising shots over the bar and into the trees after
getting into great positions through his determination and speed.
Geoff BARNETT (1989 - ?)
No relation to Kevin, Geoff played centre half and scored 1 goal for the Club. Did not turn up that much so he never really established himself.
Geoff BARTLES (1982-84)
Lunatic player with no skill, but bags of guts and commitment. Thought nothing of sceiving down an opponent and was ready to whack them if they complained about it.
Apart from that he was a smashing lad who used to buy his mother flowers and that. Signed from The Alma along with Dave Adair, Bartles as he was known also left when Adair
was banned for life. In a word, a complete "NUTCASE".
Mickey BAYER (1981-84 and 88-90):
Excellent midfield player, bit on the portly side signed from Harris Lebus.
Mickey, like many players in the Club's history, never fulfilled
his true potential on the pitch, but he did set up many chances with his
accurate passing. He should have scored much more than the 12 goals that he did
get. He was however, like most of our players - very passionate about the game.
Bob BEAREY (1983)
This big headed bastard thought he was the bee's knees and we only tolerated him and his mate Nigel Holmes because we were desperate for players. They soon left because of course - they knew it all. Despite that, Bob was a decent centre half
and was comfortable bringing the ball forward, but this CLUB has no room for these prima donas.
Jean BELLOGUET (1994 - 95):
"Raine" as he prefered to be called, because he didn't like his girls name, came to the Club with so called "great skills".
Unfortunately for us, he was just like his mate - Asa Groarke. Thought he was good but wasn't.
Always thought that he deserved to be in the team, but was never picked again after letting TD's tyres down for not picking him.
Needless to say he disappeared without trace - THANKFULLY.
Sat BHUJANE (2000 - ):
Signed on in the summer of 2000, Sat a rather large left back/midfielder had a few appearances in the B's before falling to the demands of work.
A Liverpool fan who would benefit from losing a bit of weight.
Keith BLACKMAN (1985-89):
"Sniffer" was his nick name, but not for scoring goals. He got the name for crawling around other players wives/girlfriends. He played equally well at left back or left midfield and scored 5 goals for the Club. He was on the short side which matched his mate Johnny Page who also played in midfield. Last heard of living in Peterborough married to a Nurse.
He was responsible for bringing "Raving" Pat O'Byrne to the Club.
Adrian BOND (1984-86):
Bondy did not look to be that useful when he signed. Then all of a sudden he transformed into an excellent right back, charging forward and tackling back admirally.
His great efforts were rewarded when the lads voted him the Player of the year for 1986, but he disappeared soon after when injury forced him to retire early - or was it the wife?
Richard BOOTHBY (2000 - ):
Richy is a speedy player who needs to learn how to turn up regularly and pay his subs. Injury prone, but being a Chelsea Boy he can't be all bad.
Turns up out of the blue (obviously).Maybe one for the future??? Its up to him.
Lee BOVINGTON (1998 - ):
Lee signed on as a left back and enjoyed a short run in the A team before work and injury forced him out.
On his return in 2000-01 season, he has managed to regain his A team position after afew games with the B's.
Mark BOVINGTON (1999 - 2000):
Brother of Lee, Mark was a stocky slow right back who after a good run in the B's, disappeared without a trace.
Mark BRADLEY (1990 - 92):
Bradders was brought to the Club by Gordon Lloyd who along with Dave Selby, were plucked from the staff at Makro's. He was an average right sided midfield player,
who turned out to be a really useful 'keeper. He also disappeared without a trace. He scored 8 goals for the Club.
Paul BRENDEN (1996 - 97, but still tells me he is available - "Just phone me" he says.):
Pauly, after attending summer training for a couple of years was finally persuaded to sign on in August
1996. He was a speedy, skillful midfield player with plenty to say and was very influential in the team. But the rigours of playing on Saturdays soon took their toll and he gradually became less available.
He often attends Club functions and insists that he IS AVAILABLE. I wonder...........
Clive BRIDGEMAN (1987-2000):
"Clive the Shin" was famous for controlling and clearing the ball with his shin apart from being one of the Clubs best servants.
Clive took over the roll as B Team manager and was responsible for bringing in many of his colleagues from the Met, which eventually
brought success to the CLUB. He also served as Secretary after the departure of Simon Lyons, whose mess was left for him to clear up.
Under Clive, we re-established our good name with the League. He once scored a goal against Gleneagle to put the B's back in it at 1-10.
His claim was that he "Was the best crosser of the ball in the Club". mmmmmm..... Signed from Johnson Matthey, he played at right back or centre half and
has the distinction of being the oldest player (54) to appear and at the time of writing (6/3/01) - the only Grandad to play for Wanderers. He did actually score 3 goals for the Club.
Sean BRODERICK (?) I don't actually remember this player but he is in the records as playing so he must have. Does anybody know of him?
Mickey BROOMFIELD (1993 - 99):
"Flesh Eater" was the name bestowed upon him by his mate Ovy (Trumpet). Mickey was very reliable and although he showed skill at training, he seldom displayed it on the pitch.
He did score 2 spectacular goals in one game. He struggled to hold down a regular place but his reliablility was much appreciated by the Club.
Mick also turns up from time to time at training or Club Dances, but curiously he also settled down with a nurse.
Laurie BROWN (1982 - 84)
He was known as Laurie Watford, simply because he was from Watford. At 50 he was the Clubs oldest player untill Clive Bridgeman appeared for the B's in 99-2000.
He joined the Club by chance whilst roaming Enfield Playing Fields looking for a game. He stumbled upon us, short of a full team and Bobs your uncle - he signed immediately.
Scored a couple of goals before disappearing without trace, presumably somewhere in a retirement home in Watford.
Rob BROWN (1994-99)
"Mr Personality" had a big job filling Neil Barrie's boots in goal but was a calm and reliable keeper who was bedecked by injuries.
Although very quiet, his positional sense and ability to deliver the ball wide aided the semi-revival of the A Team in the second half of the 90s.
He was voted player of the Year for season 95-96. Last time he was seen, he paid what he owed plus is signing on fee for 99-2000 season and hasn't been seen since.
Mark BUTCHER (1987-89)
Lazy midfield player with a great natural left foot. He had good skill but he never really
gave the impression that he was interested in the game. However, he did have some good games for the B's scoring 4 goals.
Last heard (1994) of was working as a courier and frequenting the Merrihills pub in Oakwood.
Colin BURZIO (1986-94)
Stylish left sided midfielder who yoyo-ed from A's to B's. He would sometimes disappear in a game and thus was unable to hold a regular A Team place. The B's however, were happy
for him to drop down. One of three brothers to play for the Club. He played left back to everybodies amazement in the victorious Cup winning side og 1993, thus proving manager Crai Kimberley's
faith in him.
Trevor BURZIO (1986-94)
Trev was the Clubs best ever goalscorer with a total of 149. Holds all the record of 36 goals in the 1988-89 season when the Club were robbed of te Championship when points were deducted.
He never plyed again after running the London Marathon, where he completely knackered his knee.
Even trying to get him back to get the goal to make it a round 150, would not tempt him. He was top scorer in every season that he played, his second best total of 33 in his first season when the team were struggling.
Tony BURZIO (1986-87)
Tony didn't last as long as his 2 brothers at the club, but was a very fit midfield player. What he lacked in skill was made up with speed and his being prepared to get stuck in where it hurts, (unlike his 2 brothers).
