Ishmael ABDUL (1980-82)
Ishy was one of the first players and was the original fat bastard. He had great skill for an Asian player of the time but really needed to lose weight. He scored the Club's first ever goal in the 1-10 defeat against Cambridge, who eventually ended the season as runners up in Division 6. His speciality was free kicks.
Mr ABDUL (1980)
Ismael's Dad, played a couple of games in the Club's first season when we were short. He was someone who just wore the shirt.
Kal ADJOODA (- 1993)
"Vishnu" he was known as, was a wing back without the wing or the back. Always wanted to play more forward but was more effective at either left or right back. He had strong opinions and was often moody. He has been the only Mauritian player at the Club and he was not missed when he left to work in the Gents dept' at Harrods.
Dave Adair (1982-84)
"Norman" was his nickname, although Man Utd yobbo would have been more accurate. Skillfull little midfield played signed from The Alma along with a few others. Very accurate passer of the ball and excellent at deadball situations. Very explosive temper and was always getting booked and sent off. He was nicknamed after Norman Whiteside of Man Utd and he loved it. Despite his skills he only scored 8 goals - should have been a lot more. He was eventually banned for life - a shame and a waste.
Michael AMBROSE (1998 - 99)
Micky was a stringy central midfield player whose long legs would get in telling tackles and drive him forward at pace. Injury cost him a place in the B's 1998 Cup Final. Could never be regarded as reliable and gradually drifted away without anybody noticing.
Stewart ANDERSON (1984-92)
Wee Stewy played his heart out at right back with his tough tackling, no nonsense marauding on the flank. He always wanted to play right midfield but was always needed at right back. Excellent crosses ensured plenty of service for our forwards. He scored 8 goals for the Club and was disgusted when asked to wear our new kit of the time, which was Celtic colours. Devout Hearts of Mid Lothian fan.
Ron ASHLEY (1980-91)
Ron was also one of the founder members of the Club back in 1980. Formerly played for London school boys and was on West Ham's books but left because he couldn't stand Ronnie Boyce. Ron was also the Clubs first Secretary and kept us on a good footing with the League in our 1st season. Ron was an extremely skillfull player and was equally effective in the centre of midfield or defence. However he did tend to beat 6 men and pass the ball into touch. Ron was dangerous at corners and free kicks and scored regularly as a defender - 6 goals a season on average. He won Player of the Year in 1982 and also won the 1st Charlie Walters Memorial Shield (Clubman o the Year) in 1983). Ron served the Club well and would always defend the traditions and purposes the of Club. He broke his ankle in a game and was told by the then B Team manager Clive Bridgeman, to "run it off". The injury ended his playing career. The only blot on his career at the Club was introducing Silly Billy and Simple Simon to the team (you can read about these 2 comedians elsewhere in the section under "C" and "T"). He could and some say he should have played at a much higher level, but he was committed to Wanderers. The Club has been proud to have him as a player. Bloody Nice Bloke.
Tony ASTON (1983-85 and 1993-95)
Tony was a quick tigerish midfield player who got forward and scored some goals. He scored the the only goal of the game on his debut in a 1-0 victory over Travellers. He left after his first spell at the Club after injuring his knee in a five a side tournament. He returned 10 yaers later and was in the B Team that gained promotion to the 5th Division.
Unfortunately, injury resulted in him finally retiring earlier than he would have liked. Good lad.
Perry ATALIOTIS (1987)
Perry only played 2 games for the Club. He scored the winner in a 4-3 win over Bethune for the B's. Not a bad midfield player but couldn't be bothered to turn up.
Mo AWADA (2000 - )
"Mo Mowlem" is a formidable sight in goal - he takes up half of it. In his first season Mo has shown great dedication to the Club and has never let us down. He lost his A Team place after changes were made mid season but has proved to be an excellent shot stopper as well as a good Clubman. He played a blinder in a 6-5 victory over Kingfisher in the mud and was the main reason we won the match - saving at least 3 one on ones to my knowledge.
