Club History
1980
Wanderers Football Club used to be called Beechams FC and was formed in 1980 by a bunch of lads that
worked at the Beechams Foods Company in White Hart Lane, Tottenham, London.
The very first manager of the team was Charlie Walters and he took the side into the Edmonton & District Football League
in October 1980 when one of the teams dropped out.
Ron Ashley was the first Secretary of the Club and it was mainly his enthusiasm that inspired the
original team, despite suffering many heavy beatings.
The first League game was against Cambridge in the League and we were soundly beaten 9-0.
Amongst that first team were Alan (fuck it) Watson (Goalkeeper) who despite conceding many goals, was still voted Player of the Year for the thousands that he saved.
Also in that team were Richard Cross (left back) Ismael Abdul (midfield) ex Harris Lebus maestro Mickey Bayer,
Mickey (I'll nick it) Dwyer, Paul (I'll get you sponsorship if you guarantee I always play) Robinson -
who was the Clubs first top goalscorer with 6 goals and Dave (da wind) Jones, who I believe is still deaf to this day.
